www.Ring-Tones.co.za: Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced that the Motorola Centellis(TM) 2000 AdvancedTCA(R) communications server received the Best In Show for Infrastructure Products award at the third annual AdvancedTCA Summit. The conference was held October 16 - 18, 2007 in Santa Clara, California.
The recently announced two-slot Centellis 2000 was recognized by a panel of industry experts for its distinctiveness in demonstrating the central use of AdvancedTCA and ability to offer significant business and technical benefits. The award was announced Wednesday, October 17 at the AdvancedTCA Summit's awards ceremony.
"We are delighted to accept the Best of Show award for the Centellis 2000," said Brian Carr, strategic marketing manager, Embedded Communications Computing, Motorola. "We believe its unique front to rear cooling architecture is an industry first, and because it is designed to meet CP-TA B.4 class thermal performance, the Centellis 2000 chassis will be able to handle the highest power AdvancedTCA boards in both slots with the highest reliability and availability rating for components."
The Motorola Centellis 2000 AdvancedTCA platform provides all the business benefits of larger communications servers, but in a compact, two-slot version. With the ability to reuse any of the AdvancedTCA payload from its larger peers, the Centellis 2000 offers a cost-effective, industry standard solution suitable for smaller scale deployments, and enables network equipment providers to take advantage of their existing AdvancedTCA deployments by reusing hardware and software, providing investment protection and helping to reduce time to market and development cost.
The front to rear cooling architecture is an important benefit for installation into central office locations, and with both AC and redundant DC powered variants available, the Centellis 2000 is equally at home in data centers and enterprise environments as well.
"When our panel of industry experts reviewed the entrants, Motorola's Centellis 2000 came out as the clear leader in the infrastructure category," said Ernie Bergstrom, president, Crystal Cube Consulting, who is the AdvancedTCA Summit chairman as well as chairman of the Best of Show awards program. "No one else was even close! It's evident that this two-slot system struck a chord in terms of its potential impact on the industry."
Centellis 2000 Series Communications Servers
Compatible with Motorola's Centellis 31K 1Gbps and 4100 10Gbps application-ready platforms, the Centellis 2000 enables system and network scalability across both chassis size and network speed and reduces customer design time, reducing product time to market. This product series provides front-to-rear cooling, AC or DC power and a PICMG compliant chassis. More information is available at http://www.motorola.com/computing.

www.Ring-Tones.co.za: Motorola, Inc. is dialing up the experience of hands-free driving with the introduction of the MOTOROKR T505 Bluetooth(R) In-Car Speakerphone and Digital FM Transmitter, its first road-ready, music-oriented ROKR accessory and the latest addition to its portfolio of in-car solutions. The MOTOROKR T505 enables consumers to connect a compatible Bluetooth enabled phone(1) to the car sound system and enjoy hands-free calling and their own personal music collection in outstanding stereo sound. Motorola will unveil its newest Bluetooth automotive accessory here at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, the premiere automotive specialty products trade event.
The T505 is extremely portable and requires no wires or installation. Drivers simply clip the device to a car's visor and pair the T505 using Motorola's EasyPair(TM) technology to a compatible Bluetooth device. When the T505 is connected to a stereo Bluetooth phone, such as a MOTORAZR(2) or MOTOROKR Z6, or an MP3 player, calls and music are streamed wirelessly with the perfectly-tuned clarity and wide-ranging volume of a car stereo. Drivers with standard Bluetooth phones can use the T505 to make and take their calls over the car stereo. And when the ride's over, the T505 can be easily unhooked and taken to another car for the next trip.
"Today's drivers demand convenience and connectivity without missing a beat to what's important to them -- their calls and their music," said Jason Few, corporate vice president, Motorola, Inc. "We're excited to introduce a portable, music-optimized ROKR to the car to enhance the mobile experience while consumers are on the road."
The T505 also features StationFinder(TM), a breakthrough technology that announces where the best FM connection can be found on the user's car radio. When calls come in, the T505 automatically mutes the music and audibly announces the Caller-ID(2), so drivers can keep their eyes on the road. Cutting-edge echo and noise reduction technology and a built-in microphone and 2-watt speaker also ensure that drivers have outstanding sound and zero static throughout their ride.
Motorola, a global leader in the Bluetooth accessories market, offers a selection of portable and fixed automotive-focused Bluetooth solutions for drivers including speakerphones, headsets and other accessories.
Availability
The ROKR T505 is expected to become available in Q1 2008. For more information, please visit http://www.hellomoto.com/T505.

www.Ring-Tones.co.za: Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) through Motorola Ventures, its strategic venture capital arm, today announced that it has made an equity investment in Siimpel Corporation. Siimpel is a leading developer and manufacturer of silicon MICROELECTROMECHANICAL System (MEMS) based solutions for mobile imaging applications. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
As the personal mobile device continues to develop from the basic cell phone, consumers now expect to receive superior functionality from other technologies integrated into their devices, such as the ability to take high-quality digital photos. Traditional technologies incorporated into stand-alone digital cameras have not been successful in meeting the size, power, performance, reliability and cost requirements of the mobile phone market. Siimpel's MEMS solution will allow devices such as cell phones to provide features such as auto-focus, shutter and zoom, providing best-in-class imaging performance all while in a low-cost, micro-scale system.
"We are committed to nurturing new technologies that will enable innovative mobile experiences for consumers around the world," said Reese Schroeder, managing director, Motorola Ventures. "This investment will allow Siimpel to accelerate the production of its MEMS based solutions for handset cameras, bringing the handset even closer to true digital camera-like performance."
"Increased expectations of imaging systems in phone handsets, laptops, PDA's and micro-cameras has created a global demand for low cost micro-scale imaging systems," said Tony Tang, CEO of Siimpel. "We are actively collaborating with the world's leading consumer electronics, mobile communications and digital imaging leaders to deliver high-quality digital camera products that fit the size constraints of mobile platforms."
About Siimpel
Siimpel is a venture backed firm that specializes in MICROELECTROMECHANICAL Systems (MEMS), optics, electro-optical design, image sensors, packaging and camera electronics. Siimpel's technology provides best-in-class imaging performance (contrast and color, lower power drain, faster time to focus) in the smallest form factor which is critical to enabling Digital Still Camera (DSC) like performance in slim form factor devices such as cellphones. Siimpel's investor base includes the strategic venture investment arms of Motorola, Qualcomm, and Micron, as well as SunAmerica Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Global Catalyst Partners, Scale Venture Partners, Zone Ventures, Flextronics International and Portage Ventures.

www.Ring-Tones.co.za: A group of Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT) business leaders, technologists and marketing experts recently convened an internal "trendstorm," where they discussed the latest and upcoming innovations in Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) for 2008 -- and beyond.
The market for IPTV is increasing at a rapid pace. "At year-end 2006, there were 4.6 million residential IPTV subscribers," said Parks Associate industry analyst Kurt Scherf. "This number will grow to nearly 60 million by year-end 2011. We forecast annual shipments of IPTV set-top boxes to be seven million in 2007 and exceed 20 million by year-end 2011. To capitalize on this market growth, telcos should focus on embracing user-generated and social media to differentiate their services," Scherf said.
"In 2007, we really started to see the promise of IPTV fulfilled. For example, it took a few years for Motorola to reach the 1 millionth IPTV set top box shipment; we then doubled the number of shipments in five short months," said Doug Means, Motorola corporate vice president and general manager, Home and Networks Mobility. "Building on the momentum of IPTV adoption, we see a number of applications coming into the picture as 'the next big thing.'"
Key trends and innovations discussed included:
Content portability -- the proliferation of mobile devices where video is available virtually anytime, anywhere carries over to the home environment. Whole-home DVR -- pausing in one room and picking up the program in another room -- is promising to be a potentially popular application for IPTV.
Increased content availability -- via a switched digital video environment and bandwidth optimizing features such as MPEG-4 compression technology, IPTV promises expanded content choices for consumers. For example, niche market content like university- or league-specific, hobby or ethnic programming that may not have been included in traditional broadcast environments, will start to find homes -- and viewers -- in an all-switched digital video environment that allows an array of channels and choices from providers.
Personalization and localization -- in an all IP-environment, each customer-premise equipment (CPE) device, like set tops, has an IP address. Accordingly, information specified and defined by the user can be provided as a customized content overlay. For example, IPTV consumers can receive personalized stock, weather, sports and other information directly on their TV.
Targeted advertising -- TV advertising is changing from broadcast to "uni"cast. Advanced advertising technology will allow consumers to receive localized information. For example, consumers could receive local dealer information when watching a car ad (using graphic overlay technology), obtain more information (launching a video on demand) or even click to request a test drive of the car from the local dealership.
"Motorola, a leader in the video delivery industry for more than 50 years, offers a complete spectrum of IPTV technology to make these potential future applications a reality for telcos looking to deliver compelling services and content," said Means.
Motorola at TelcoTV
Motorola (booth #701) will demonstrate its innovative IPTV video headend, transport and MPEG-4 encoding equipment, and connected home devices at this week's TelcoTV show in Atlanta.
Means will present the keynote address at TelcoTV 2007 on Thursday, Oct. 25. Craig Pasek, Senior Product Manager, Access Networks, Motorola, will participate on a Wednesday, Oct. 24 panel titled "Options and Opportunities for Video Delivery."
Motorola will host a workshop prior to the opening of TelcoTV on Tuesday, Oct. 23, about the "Basics of IPTV and Beyond," discussing video trends and technology including on-demand solutions, IP set tops, ultra broadband, MPEG-4 encoding, content distribution and digital rights management.

www.Ring-Tones.co.za: Motorola, Inc. announced today that it is the first major cell phone manufacturer to redesign all its mobile phone and accessory chargers (external power supplies) to be ENERGY STAR-qualified. ENERGY STAR is designed to help consumers identify energy-efficient products which meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of Energy (DOE).
Climate change is widely recognized as one of the greatest challenges facing the world today, and Motorola is doing its part to help protect the environment and spur innovative solutions such as ENERGY STAR-qualified power supplies.
"EPA salutes Motorola's leadership as the first company to ensure all of the power adapters in their phone chargers earn the ENERGY STAR," said Bill Wehrum, Acting EPA Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation. "By being more energy efficient, ENERGY STAR-qualified adapters reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution associated with the generation of electricity."
According to EPA, if every phone sold in the U.S. this year used an ENERGY STAR qualified adapter in its charger, the energy saved could light 760,000 homes for a year. In addition, it would prevent well over 1 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent emissions of more than 200,000 cars.
"At Motorola, we realize the importance of helping to protect the environment," said Greg Estell, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, MobileME, Motorola, Inc. "As a leading provider of consumer electronic products to millions of American homes, Motorola is dedicated to providing solutions, like ENERGY STAR-qualified chargers, that help improve the everyday lives of consumers."
The ENERGY STAR logo will be incorporated on the packaging of Motorola's aftermarket wall-charging solutions so consumers can easily identify energy efficient products.

Aligning with Motorola’s seamless mobility strategy, MOTODEV Studio will support application development across all of Motorola’s products – including mobile, connected home, and enterprise solutions.
In its first release, Motorola is introducing MOTODEV Studio for Java ME – a complete Java ME application development platform for mobile handsets. MOTODEV Studio for Java ME provides a full set of tools for compiling, debugging, and testing mobile Java applications for Motorola’s hottest 3GSM devices. Instead of testing applications via the Java ME environment on the handset, MOTODEV Studio for Java ME emulates individual Java API’s on the desktop, enabling developers to jump-start their development cycle before phones are even available.
Maximum Flexibility for Minimal Complexity
In addition to MOTODEV Studio for Java ME, Motorola is offering a standalone Motorola Java ME SDK. The SDK provides the same emulation and web-based update features as MOTODEV Studio for Java ME, combined with the flexibility to be integrated with other IDEs. This gives developers choice in IDEs while significantly reducing the steps they must take to create, test and deploy an application.
“With the new MOTODEV Studio platform, we’re truly taking the developer experience to the next level, offering a fresh new approach to how our developer community innovates and communicates with Motorola,” said Christy Wyatt, vice president, ecosystem and market development, Motorola. “MOTODEV Studio is another great example of how we are delivering on our promise of connecting the developer community with the resources they need and executing on Motorola’s vision of seamless mobility.”
“Software development for mobile devices is a high growth area within the Eclipse community,” said Mike Milinkovich, executive director, Eclipse Foundation. “We are pleased to see Motorola’s contribution and leadership to help drive the success of Eclipse across a broad range of applications from servers to handsets.”
“As an open and modular framework, MOTODEV Studio will increase our productivity in mobile application development -- allowing us to focus on providing exciting gaming experiences on Motorola products,” said Gonzague de Vallois, Vice President of Publishing, Gameloft.
“TeleNav is delighted to be part of the beta program for MOTODEV Studio,” said Dr. Bob Rennard, CTO, TeleNav. “We believe that MOTODEV Studio will accelerate development cycles and make it easier to deploy our applications on Motorola handsets”
Dialogue with MOTODEV
MOTODEV Studio provides developers with direct access to the information they want and need via a unique communication channel. With one simple download to the desktop, MOTODEV Studio will notify developers when new tools and SDKs are available. The channel also keeps developers “in the know” on recently announced Motorola handsets, MOTODEV events and special go-to-market services available to them.
The initial release of the MOTODEV Studio framework featuring MOTODEV Studio for JavaME will be available for registered MOTODEV developers to download in late April 2007 at www.motorola.com/developer. The release will include support tools for an array of new, “wickedly cool” handsets including the stylish Motorola MOTOKRZR K1, ultra-fast MOTORAZR maxx V6 and the music-optimized MOTOROKR Z6m.
Experience MOTODEV Studio
To learn more about the MOTODEV Studio framework, visit the MOTODEV Fast Track event, co-located with CTIA Wireless at the Orange County Convention Center in room 304 E&F on Wednesday, March 28 from 11:00 – 5:00 EST.

In addition, users will have a seamless mobile experience when moving in and out of the home using a single device, single number, contacts book, voicemail, and bill. This builds upon TeliaSonera and Motorola’s joint announcement announcing deployment of Motorola’s standards-compliant network infrastructure, system integration, and deployment services.
“Motorola has unparalleled expertise in broadband and telephony,” says Jesper Broeckner, President, Telia Denmark. “When we decided to commercially deploy an UMA fixed mobile convergence solution, Motorola’s gateways were the easy choice for delivering voice services across both a wired and wireless connection. We have been pleased to work with Motorola to deliver the worlds first Wi-Fi-based UMA system.”
The Motorola RSG Series gateways support both voice and data communication and provide seamless call transitions between mobile and home Wi-Fi® networks. With an RSG and a compatible dual-mode mobile handset, consumers can maintain an uninterrupted connection as they move both within and beyond the home. The RSGu3502 is equipped with two RJ-11 analog phone ports, which enable mobile operators to deliver dial tone to the fixed line in the subscriber’s home over the broadband access network. The RSG Series also comes equipped with a full-featured, 4-port router and integrated 802.11b/g Wi-Fi radio, creating a robust and secure home data network. It offers advanced packet routing and prioritization for Voice-over-IP (VoIP) services, ensuring superior Quality of Service (QoS) for both voice and data traffic.
What also makes the Motorola RSGu3502 unique is that it has been especially designed for Seamless Mobility. It uses 802.11i for security including support for WPA2 and it uses 802.11e for Quality of Service and advanced power saving technology for improved battery utilization."
“TeliaSonera is an innovation leader and clearly recognizes the advantage of deploying fixed-line VoIP services via low-risk UMA technology,” says Alan Lefkof, corporate Vice President and General Manager, Motorola Broadband Solutions Group. “By introducing IP-based voice offerings, TeliaSonera is creating new revenue streams while at the same time providing customers with more freedom and flexibility to choose the phone services that are right for them. We look forward to working with TeliaSonera to deliver these new services with our seamless mobility gateways.”
Motorola’s seamless mobility voice gateways support a variety of rich CLASS features including caller ID, call waiting, three-way calling, and call forwarding. The Motorola RSGu3502 is currently on display at CTIA Wireless 2007 in the Motorola stand 3163.

www.Ring-Tones.co.za: Discreet. Beautiful. Powerful. The new Motorola Bluetooth Headset H680 has style and stand-out performance.
Motorola today announced the newest addition to its industry-leading portfolio of Bluetooth enabled products, the Motorola Bluetooth Headset H680. This design marks the beginning of a new generation of highly fashionable, discreet headsets from Motorola's design team that balances style with high performance.
Adding an air of elegance to its suite of Bluetooth enabled headsets, the sophisticated appearance of the H680 is complemented by lengthy talk times for its micro size. Compared to other headsets in its category, the H680 provides up to approximately eight hours of talk time and approximately eight days of standby time.
"Since our first headset more than five years ago, Motorola has continued to introduce industry-leading Bluetooth enabled products to consumers," said Greg Estell, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, MobileME, Motorola, Inc. "H680 is perfect for users who have been waiting for a more discreet and elegant option, but are not willing to compromise on performance."
With a lustrous metallic finish on the sides and a glass-like finish top, the H680 catapults to luxury status. "Our goal is to create a more richly integrated and consistent user experience, both visually and functionally, across Motorola devices and accessories. We want consumers to look at Motorola products as objects of desire in addition to objects of necessity. We must continue to build strong emotional connections with the consumer," stated Scott Wilson, Design Director, MobileME, Motorola, Inc.
The latest speaker and ear bud/ear hook innovation in the H680 also demonstrates Motorola's expertise and leadership in Bluetooth headset ergonomics. The ear bud helps provide stronger audio quality with closer placement to the ear, while interchangeable ear cushions help to offer unrivaled wearing comfort. The ultra-light, ultra-comfortable ear hook helps supply additional stability and rotates, allowing users to point the microphone directly towards their mouth so conversations can be heard clearly.
The headset is complemented by a stylish and functional portable case that charges and helps protect the headset. Simply place the headset in the case and plug in a wall charger or car charger (sold separately) to recharge the headset(1).
